About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on Senior/Staff Engineer or Engineering Lead who has already driven — or has a clear operational vision for — transforming a software engineering team from "AI-assisted" to "AI-native."
What "AI-Native" means in practice:
- Moving from manual in-IDE prompting to autonomous agent execution, where agents own tasks end-to-end under human supervision.
- Development driven by clear specifications and acceptance criteria rather than ad-hoc prompts.
- Shift-Left QA: Verification logic and test cases are designed before implementation begins.
- Deterministic checks, linters, and architectural constraints replacing unnecessary human code review loops.
- Turning repetitive dev tasks into reusable AI skills, workflows, and automated pipelines.
- Systematically converting individual learning and corrections into shared tooling for the whole team.
What You'll Do
- Audit & Blueprint: Assess current development and QA workflows, then design and execute a staged plan for the team's AI-native transformation.
- Hands-on Leadership: Work alongside our existing full-stack engineers to establish new conventions, raise engineering standards, and upscale the team.
- Tooling & Orchestration: Implement and own agentic workflows, moving the stack beyond basic copilots toward fully autonomous execution.
- Architecture & Scale: Refactor and upgrade the core system architecture to handle a 5–10x increase in multi-tenant load and organizational scale.
- Process Automation: Automate key high-effort operational tasks (e.g., automated pitch and proposal generation) currently handled manually by company leadership.
- Deliver Measurable Results: Establish clear milestones to demonstrate tangible velocity and quality gains within the first 1–3 months.
Requirements
- Technical Leadership: 5+ years of experience in Senior, Staff, or Tech Lead roles within product companies.
- AI-Native Expertise: Practical experience designing, building, or adopting agentic workflows across a team (beyond personal use of AI assistants).
- Strong Engineering Background: Full-stack or backend focus with a deep understanding of modern web ecosystems (Core: Node.js / TypeScript).
- Product & Business Mindset: Comfortable making autonomous technical decisions that balance business priorities with long-term engineering health.
- Architectural Scaling: Proven track record of refactoring systems for high availability, multi-tenancy, and performance.
- Startup Drive: Comfortable navigating an active transformation phase with high autonomy and fast iteration cycles.
